This painting is my quiet tribute to the strength and resilience of fishermen whose lives are tied to the sea. The abundance of tuna surrounding the figure reflects not only the reward of a long day’s labor, but also the livelihood and nourishment the ocean provides to their families and communities. Every day is filled with hardship, risk, and sacrifice; yet it is through this very labor that families and communities are sustained, contributions that is deserving of more appreciation and recognition. Through the faceless portrayal of the subject, I hoped to make him a symbol for all fishermen, whose unseen sacrifices deserve dignity, honor, and respect equal to any profession.
